#129 - A curious observation

Lately I've been noticing that my students have been rushing through their tests. They skip over the instructions and most times do not heed my warnings.

It drives me nuts!

I remember a time when test would take a full half hour to an hour to complete. You had to really work for it! Yet now my students finish their tests with in 10-15 minutes.

Have I dumbed down the tests so that they can complete it with enough time, and is that conducive?

Or should I make longer tests that use up a larger amount of time?

I'm also noticing that students can't sit still for long periods of time anymore. While I have had students with ADHD or ADD at least they learned how to keep themselves busy.

Best yet I find myself having to tell kids how to keep themselves busy rather than the kids learning on their own. [And this is time spent productively]
