Well its been a month and then some since I got back from Japan. The Monday right after I got back into the US I was right back into my classroom setting things up for my students. From there its was all work... with some play.
But lets recap.
After I left Osaka (with some tears because I had a more that wonderful time there.) I headed back to Tokyo, around the Arashibashi area. Close to Akihabara. Well I got lost getting off my train, so lost I was to the point in tears. But I was saved again by Japanese old people that showed me the way. For a 10 person dorm, Ann's Hostel was pretty good! I was worried I was going to be lost all night. Anyway there were some great people that I met in my dorm. I had thought that being with 10 other girls would be a problem but this was such a better experience than my last nights in Cork, Ireland.
There was a lot to do while I was here, lots of book shopping and realizing I don't like the electronic part of Akihabara that much. But then I again I'm not a big fan of Tokyo either; well its busy places at least. So most of my alone time was spent shopping, and HOLY SHIT! I forgot I went to visit the graves of the 47 Ronin! I totally got lost again (and had to use the bathroom to boot!)trying to find it, still it was so worth it. In the rest of my time I got to meet a wonderful woman and her family, Mayumi-san. Her and her husband were wonderful hosts taking me around Tokyo and showing me their bathhouse. Not to mention taking me all the way out to Kawasaki for some of the best sushi I have ever eaten in my life! I got to eat this huge sea snail... that was pretty epic.
There really wasn't much other than that in my last few nights. Before I headed to the airport I stayed at the same Holiday Inn just to gather myself and to get omiyage at the near by mall. Then I had a Terminal moment because I had to check out of my room at 11AM and then spend the rest of the day till 9:30pm hanging around the airport. That was fun... :P No really, it was quite comfortable. I even got teary eyed. OMG especially at this one moment where a family was saying goodbye to each other and there were these two kids, cousins I think. Well the tear jerker was that the two cousins (a boy and a girl) didn't want the other to leave. It was so fricken adorable watching them cling to each other then when the family had them hug goodbye they both started crying and wouldn't let the other go. I even started tearing to the point where I was getting weird looks.
But I'm back in the states... and I miss Japan. I honestly do.
