but I just weighed myself it and it came out to 52.7kg.
Wow, so much has happened in the last three days that I can`t really figure out what to say for this entry. On the 21st was the one of the two local flea markets of Kyoto. I headed out reasonably early to the Toji temple and it was no surprise that it was already hot. It was definately a shopping day and I think I put my money to work and headed back with some reasonable purchases. I did have to head into Nishiki Market area to get another back, but looking at the backpack right now I don`t think its big enough either! (It will be on of two carry-ons with the other holding more omiyage). On the 22nd went back to Osaka to meet up with my friend Sawako, I met her at J-hoppers Hostel where she works and she is super kind! We had takoyaki which with her friend Suki we had to cook ourselves and okonomiyaki which was already cooked. We spent a lot of time talking about Hawaii since Suki loves Hawaii and comparisions of Japan to the West. Heading back Sawako and I made plans for me to come back on the 23rd so that I can attend some of the festivities that are part of their Tenjin Masturi Festival in Osaka.
I canceled the next two days of my reservation on Tokyo and Sawako offered up her home for me to crash. I got to meet her two sisters, her nephew, and her mom. They took me out for sushi yesterday and OH MY GOD! It was the freshest sushi I have had yet! Sawako`s mom kept making sure I had something on my plate so I think I had pretty much a sample of every fish they had on the menu, including salmon roe and I even had sea urchin (which was apparently high quality being that it was from Hokkido). OH! I even had eel liver too! But I originally thought it was octopus. LOL Then I was in for a big surprise, the sushi chef has his specialty which I won`t say only because I hope it stays just in that resturant. But holy crap I didn`t expect it to taste so good, given the combination of ingretients seemed rather odd. It was SOOOOOOO good!
I also want to point out how hard core Sawako`s mom is... of the four of us that were out only her mother and I were drinking. We started with beer and while I stuck with beer for the rest of the night Sawako`s mom (who is in her 60s) moved on to a couple glasses of Shouchu, which she explained that while she loves sake she usually drinks shouchu because it has less calories. Oh and she makes her own plum wine at home.... XD.
We walked Sawako`s mom back to the house and Sawako, her younger sister Tomoko, and I headed out for karaoke. Japanese karaoke beats American karaoke hands down. It was really great fun and I managed to stumble my way through a couple Japanese songs. Tomoko explained karaoke was her way of releasing stress to which I agreed and told her about Rock Band. ;)
Again Japanese hospitality strikes again and I am greatfully with a group of wonderful people! I am so thankful for all the awesome and kind people I have befriended on this trip! I hope that I can only return the same hostpitality in the future.
