I can't remember where I was in 2006 and I can't believe that I had completely missed seeing Paprika when it was first released. I highly recommend this. A friend had rented the movie out last night by recommendation from her brother and well I was completely hooked within the first few minutes.

Story: Protagonist use a device to look into the dreams of other people in order to help them... of course if it fell into the wrong hands... ^^

The music is another thing that I'm absolutely raving about. Like the animation, the music sucks you in and sends your heart racing.

Had I seen this in 2006, I would have said that TEKKONKREET is similar to Paprika. But since I didn't I can't only make a backwards comparison. Not to confuse; the storylines and style of animation are completely different. But what I am saying is that both movies definately appealed to me in the sense of "pure imagination". I'm a sucker for things that inspires my creativity to unleash itself.

Another quick blurb Paprika was directed by Satoshi Kon, who also has done Tokyo Godfathers and Millennium Actress two other movies that I would also like to recommend. The music was scored by Susumu Hirasawa, who also did the music for Millennium Actress.
