I have become addicted to Mnemosyne. There I said it; I'll also admit that I'm rather picky when it comes to anime. Actually I'll pretty much watch anything but there are a few gems that my inner fangirl will go completely nuts over. Mnemosyne is one of them and has just been recently released in 2008 (with following releases happening once every month till June).
I stumbled upon this OVA via a review from the Okazu and well the rest is history. Heh.
Mnemosyne has not be slated for a US release yet, but when has that ever stopped a fan. There has also been a light novel adaptation written by the writer of the OVA. Perfect. Now to find where I can get my hands on a copy.
Now your thinking WTF? Right? Well lemme dish it out this way without giving away too much of the over all plot. We have Rin the main protagonist a woman who can't be killed, is excellent at hand-to-hand combat, wears awesome clothes, and let me just say it again... She can't be killed (at least by normal means *wink*). We also have a sidekick, Mimi, who is a lot older than she really looks, loves her alcohol, and apparently has a rather 'familiar' relationship with Rin. Its safe to say that these two women who work together in a private investigator office know each other well. From here one you get a guy clone that joins the team, an assassin woman who has it in for killing Rin, someone named Apos who loves to play chess with bound and bleeding women, men who turn into angels who make immortals like Rin and Mimi horny then eat them... literally, AND there is a Tree. (I'm not going to say anything more about the Tree... so ;P)
Let me also mention that this anime isn't well... for the faint of heart. There's blood, lots of it (especially the first episode... it still makes me, well, cross my legs. If you watch, you will know what scene I'm talking about.) There is also moments of nudity and sex... which ALMOST reminds me of Speed Grapher and I'm going to kick myself for even making that comparison.
Let me remind you... Mnemosyne is SO MUCH better.
So I love it... so watch it. This anime is so good, I blogged my own review. Something I rarely do.
